Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and scope

Zippee (the “Platform”, “we”, “us”) is a multi-service marketplace for Liberia — ZippeeHome (real estate), ZippeeStay (short stays), and ZippeeGigs (local services) — operated from the Republic of Liberia. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Zippee website and mobile apps.

We handle personal information in line with the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia, including its protection of personal privacy, applicable Liberian law, and the Zippee platform policy. By using the Platform you agree to this Policy and to our Terms & Conditions.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number, account type/role, and an optional profile photo.
  • Identity verification (Providers — Sellers/Agents/Agencies, Hosts, and Local Services Providers only): a government-issued ID, a selfie, date of birth, and for agencies any business documents. Collected solely to verify identity and stored privately.
  • Listings and media: property/stay/service details, prices, descriptions, photos, optional video links, and the location/map coordinates you set.
  • Bookings and requests: short-stay booking requests (including a photo ID you choose to upload), service requests, appointments, and their status.
  • Messages: the content of conversations you exchange with other users on the Platform.
  • Reviews, favorites, and preferences: ratings and reviews you write, listings you save, and filters you use.
  • Location: with your permission, your device location is used to center the map and show nearby listings. You can decline or turn this off in your device settings.
  • Device and usage data: basic technical, log, and diagnostic information, and a push-notification token (if you enable notifications), needed to run, secure, and improve the Platform.
  • Payments: we do NOT collect card or bank details — payment between users is manual and off-platform. We may record that a manual payment for an optional paid feature was submitted, for admin confirmation.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to: create and manage your account; publish and display listings and place them on a map; power search and discovery; enable messaging, appointments, bookings, and notifications; verify Providers; run rewards and referral programs; process and activate optional paid features; detect, prevent, and act on fraud, abuse, and policy violations; respond to reports and support requests; keep the Platform safe and reliable; and comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private identity documents for advertising.

4. What is public and what is private

  • Public to other users: your public profile name and the listing details you choose to publish. Anyone can browse listings without an account.
  • Login-gated: a Provider’s contact information (such as phone) and the ability to message, book, or request a service are shown only to signed-in users — you must have an account to see contact info or contact anyone.
  • Private: your government ID, selfie, business documents, booking ID uploads, payout details, and exact saved data are visible only to you and authorized Zippee administrators, and are used only for verification, safety, and support.

5. How information is shared

  • With other users: only the public information described above, and the messages you send them.
  • With service providers who help us operate the Platform: our database/auth/storage provider (Supabase), web hosting (Vercel), map and geocoding providers (e.g. Mapbox, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, CARTO), and push-notification services. They process data only to provide their services to us.
  • For legal and safety reasons: to comply with Liberian law or lawful requests, to enforce our Terms, to prevent fraud or harm, or to protect the rights and safety of users, the public, or Zippee.
  • We never sell your personal information.

6. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including access controls, database row-level security, and private storage buckets for identity documents — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual listings at any time and delete your account. When you delete your account we remove or anonymize your personal data, except limited records we must keep to meet a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud and abuse.

8. Your rights and choices

  • Access and update your profile, listings, and content in the app.
  • Delete individual listings, or delete your entire account from Profile/Account → Delete account (see the next section).
  • Control permissions: deny or turn off location, camera, photo, or notification access in your device settings (some features won’t work without them).
  • Withdraw consent or object: stop using the Platform and/or contact us. To exercise any right, email zhchatbot@hotmail.com.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your Zippee account at any time, directly in the app: go to Profile/Account and choose “Delete account”. You can also request deletion by emailing zhchatbot@hotmail.com, or see zippeehomes.vercel.app/delete-account for instructions.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and personal data and deletes or anonymizes your listings, messages, requests, and bookings, except limited records we are legally required to keep. Deletion cannot be undone.

10. Children

Zippee is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International processing

The Platform is operated from Liberia and primarily serves users in the region. By using it, you understand your information may be processed in Liberia and by the service providers listed above, which may operate in other countries.

12. Your privacy under Liberian law

We respect the right to personal privacy recognized under the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia and applicable Liberian law, together with the Zippee platform policy. Where Liberian law gives you specific rights over your personal information, we will honor them. Questions or complaints can be sent to us at the contact below.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date here and, for significant changes, provide a notice in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
